Honed

Honed concrete is ground to a level exposure and finished flat and matte rather than glossy. We grind the area to the stone exposure you want, then apply a penetrating sealer that protects the surface without adding shine or a slippery film. The result is a smooth, non-reflective floor that still shows the natural texture of the concrete.

That combination, low reflectivity and a penetrating rather than topical seal, is what makes honed concrete a practical choice outdoors. It doesn’t glare in direct sun the way a gloss finish can, and it holds up better underfoot when wet, which matters around swimming pools and alfresco entertaining areas that see bare feet and spilled drinks.

It works indoors as well, particularly in spaces where a softer, more understated look is preferred over the higher sheen of a mechanical polish. If you want more shine on the same floor, mechanical polish is worth comparing; if the area is an existing driveway or path rather than a new pour, clean and colour seal may be the simpler option.
