Concrete Micro Toppings

A micro topping is the option when the existing surface isn’t concrete you want to show, or the concrete underneath is too damaged or uneven to grind and polish directly. We prepare the existing surface, whether that’s tiles, timber, or worn concrete, and install a high-strength micro topping over it at a minimum depth of 3mm. Because it’s a genuine overlay rather than a coating, it can be finished the same way a polished concrete floor would be.

Once cured, the topping can be taken to a burnished finish or ground to a chosen stone exposure, and finished with a topical or penetrating sealer in matte, satin or gloss, the same range available with grind and seal. There’s also a wider colour range available at the topping stage than you’d get from natural concrete alone, since the mix itself can be coloured before it’s laid.

This makes micro toppings a practical way to get a polished concrete look on a floor that was never poured concrete in the first place, or to refresh a slab that has cracking, staining, or unevenness that grinding alone wouldn’t solve.
